How to transfer files on a LAN when AirDrop is not enough
A desk with a Mac, a Windows laptop, and an Android phone quickly exposes AirDrop's boundary. Email and chat may compress files or reject a whole folder.
Send and receive without another client
Better Share's browser channel turns your Mac into a local-network sharing entry point:
- Choose a file or folder to create a temporary browser link, QR code, and short code.
- Let a phone, tablet, or another computer scan the QR code or enter the short code.
- The visitor can download; when you need to receive files, enable guest uploads and review them before accepting.
Links can use a visitor PIN and an expiry time. Before receiving, you can inspect filenames, sizes, destination, and conflict policy before deciding what to accept.
A LAN is not a cloud relay
Better Share does not provide cloud relay or internet transfer. Share links, transfer history, and temporary files stay on this Mac, and the browser page is served directly by the Mac on the LAN.
The extension-based risk hint is not a virus scan. Network files receive the macOS quarantine attribute, and the system still asks for confirmation when they are opened.
The current version does not provide device-to-device transfer or AirDrop integration; use system AirDrop directly when both devices support it.
