Review authorized folders before cleanup

When disk space is tight, the obvious answer is to scan the whole Mac. But system caches, logs, project assets, and photos should not share one default cleanup rule.

Narrow the scope before reviewing candidates

Better Cleaner's flow starts with the folders you choose:

  1. Authorize the directories to inspect through the system picker.
  2. Review candidates and evidence for large files, duplicates, or similar images.
  3. Confirm the items to handle, move them to macOS Trash, and keep a local receipt.

Exact duplicates are compared with SHA-256 and then checked byte by byte. Similar images are grouped; the app does not choose which photo you should keep.

Boundaries matter more than “automatic”

Scanning, comparison, and cleanup run on the Mac. Better Cleaner does not expand into unauthorized locations, bypass system protections, or permanently delete files automatically.

Better Cleaner is still coming soon. Treat the development preview as a product explanation, not as a released download.
